HEAD OF STATE ENDORSE YOUTH CREATIVE INITIATIVES AND PLANNING FOR A SPECIAL "PRESIDENTE HORTA SHOW" EDITION
Nicolau Lobato Presidential Palace - October 12, 2026
President of the Republic J. Ramos-Horta welcomed a delegation of young leaders from Timor-Leste’s creative and cultural sector today, led by Natalino Fernandes Ximenes.
Representing a coalition that includes Container Tais, NAFEX Art, ArtEmpreender Association, and The Kraken Band, the group formally invited the Head of State to host an upcoming episode of his popular digital program, the "Presidente Horta Show," at their creative hub located at the Institute of Business (IOB) campus. The President warmly received the proposal, expressing his strong appreciation for the youth-driven initiative, and committed to scheduling the special broadcast.
Adding a unique artistic touch to the proposed episode, the youth delegation introduced Nádia, an 11-year-old student who has collaborated with local band The Kraken to compose an original theme song dedicated to the "Presidente Horta Show." President Ramos-Horta commended this artistic tribute, which is set to be performed live during his visit. The upcoming episode will serve as a platform to highlight the group's ongoing grassroots efforts, including "SUDIKU"—a community stage project reaching local villages and their collaboration with the government on the annual Artistic Manifestation program.
Beyond the upcoming event, the meeting focused on broader strategies to advance Timor-Leste's creative economy. The delegation presented the "Timor Creative Hub," a newly developing digital platform designed to centralize information on funding, scholarships, and development opportunities for local artists and creators.
Reaffirming the Presidency’s dedication to youth empowerment, President Ramos-Horta pledged his support to help connect the initiative with diplomatic missions and international partners, ensuring that Timorese creatives have the resources they need to thrive and elevate the nation's cultural industries.
